BLESS the Broken Road

I love this song.  I'm not a country fan.  If you know me, you know that much.  But I've loved this song from the moment I heard it.  And yes, others have done it as well but I must admit, I like this country version the best!  I kind of like Rascall Flats.  Shhhhhhh...don't tell anyone!

Anyway...I heard this song today while listening to my MP3 player and getting some cleaning done (which is HIGHLY over-rated).  And it made me think about a lot of things.  I won't get into all of them but I will talk about a few.

One of the questions I've asked myself several times over the last year and a half is "would I do it all over again?"  And most of the time, I say ABSOLUTELY YES!!!  But I have these moments...where it hurts...and I remember those small things that hurt the most...the things that made me question what was true and what wasn't...and I wonder to myself, "If I had known then what I know now, would I have gone ahead and went through it all?"  And at those moments, I wonder...

I hate that I wonder.  I hate that I sometimes second guess those decisions to brought me to here.  I hate that I wonder if I was doing what God wanted me to do.  That's probably what I hate the most.  I knew from the beginning that this wouldn't be easy.  I said it in a blog almost two years ago.  I titled it "Hmmmm..."  And how appropriate that was.  But still...even though I felt like I knew I was doing what God was asking...and I knew it wouldn't be easy, I have these moments where I wonder.

But then I heard that song today.  And I was reminded that if I hadn't taken that road...if I had chosen not to do what God wanted...well, I would have missed out on some wonderful things.  Lots of them.  And even though it was a rough road...and I have these moments where I feel...I don't know what the word is...broken I suppose.  It's ok!  It's more than ok.  Cause yes...I WOULD DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN!  It was worth it.  All of it.  I learned lots about me.  I've learned things about the people around me.  I've learned what I'm capable of.  I've learned about things I need to change.  I've learned that God never said it would be easy.  You hear that all of the time but until you're in the middle of it and come out on the other side, you don't really realize what people are talking about.

So I'm thankful for my broken road.  Cause it brought me to you...and you...and you...  And I know there will be some other broken roads.  But I also know that those broken roads will bring me to other wonderful, and amazing things and people.  I'd be lying if I was saying I was looking forward to those broken roads...cause in some ways, I'm really not!  Hey, I'm just being honest.  But I will try to remind myself what will be at the end of those broken roads.

And right now, as some of those hard moments come to mind...and I wonder about things...I'm going to try really hard to remind myself what was at the end (and even in the middle) of this broken road....and how thankful I am that I followed what God wanted for me right down that broken road...

New Year, New Me

New year, new me. Who says that? Ok, a lot of people so no offense if you’re one of them.  But I like me. Sure, I’m not perfect. But I don’t want to really change all of me.  So no silly quote like that for me! It is hard to believe that 2019 is here. The older I get, the quicker time flies by.  I do remember being told that when I was a teenager.  Those people were so right.  It feels like yesterday that I was sitting in my quiet house while Johanna was off with friends celebrating the start of 2018.  But that was a year ago.  Today, I’m still sitting in my quiet house but that’s because Karyna is just waking up for the day.   A few years ago, I used to work on videos that would highlight my year.  I loved doing them but they took time.  And that’s time that I don’t have as much of these days.  It’s hard to go through a year of pictures and videos.  Do you know how many pictures I take a year?  My goodness!...

Lots of Names

Well, this is my fourth Friday in my apartment!!! It really does feel like home for the most part!!! Tera helped me...wait...I take that back. Tera MOVED my swing and table from mom and dad's a few weeks ago and so that is now on my deck! I love it!! Although, I have to admit that I haven't been home too much to enjoy it but at least I know it's there. Hopefully I'll get the chance to relax on my swing this weekend. I set my smoke alarm off the other night! That was funny! I was cooking a chicken patty and some fries in the oven. All of a sudden I hear this loud beeping! Of course once I realized it was the smoke alarm, I ran into the kitchen. Everything was good in there! Food was cooking just fine! Apparently it just got too hot in here for the smoke alarm. The funny part though is me standing on the chair trying to figure out why the alarm won't quit chirping every 45 seconds...even after I took out the battery! So after a text to the landlords (who laughed), I r...
