I must say, today turned out beautiful! The weather was perfect!!! The morning started off with a sweatshirt but then it was just a t-shirt and jeans. I loved it!!! The sun was out! Not too hot. Not too cold. Perfect! Who else agrees?
I went to IKEA today!!! I've only been one other time and honestly, it was so busy that it was hard to enjoy. And even though I knew what I wanted today, we took the time to look around...and I bought more than I intended to!! Of course, I'd say, "Oh, I like this," and my friend would say "you should get it" and then she'd have it in her hands to make sure I made it to the check out with it. So helpful she is! :-) But that's ok. I got the new bed I wanted to get when I first moved in. I got a real kitchen table (I've been using my folding table instead) with four chair. I got some new dishes. The ones I have currently...well, just not my style! I got two mixing bowls! The one I have now is from the dollar tree! And I got a cutting board. I usually use a plate. A cutting board will be nice! I even got a red toilet bowl cleaner to match my OSU bathroom stuff!! I know...silly but so much fun for me!!! They had a lot of things that I could have bought...but knew I didn't need. So maybe next time!
We also went to Target. Oh, man, I wish we had one! I didn't get much...surprisingly. But I did get a new blanket for my bed! And season one and two of Dawson's Creek! I LOVE that show! If they had all of the seasons, I would have bought them! (I'm sitting here watching them now.) I think that's all I bought from Target...which is just crazy! We wanted a CD but they didn't have it. Kind of disappointing...mainly for my friend. But we still had fun.
And on our way home, we went to the Nike store at the outlets. And I walked out with NOTHING!!! Both pair of shoes that I fell in love with...totally out of my size! And of course, the 8.5 was just too small. And I can't wear a 10!!!!!!!!! It was a conspiracy! And they didn't have the size my friend needed in the pullover sweatshirt she wanted. How did I ever manage to walk into a Nike store and walk out with nothing???? I still don't get it...
But the best part of the time was spending the time with the friend. That's really all I wanted. Life feels so...well, a lot of things lately. And it feels like we don't get any real normal time together. And today we did. I think my ribs still hurt from all of the tickeling and poking! And I know people looked at me like I was insane as I was squealing in Target! :-) We didn't do too much serious talking. It was just us. And honestly, on the way home, we hardly talked at all. It was just us. Spending time together. That's what I wanted. That's what made the day so beautiful.
The older I get...the more I realize how quickly life passes us by and we miss those little moments. In the grand scheme of things, you would think since today was planned it would have been one of those things where big memories were made. But honestly, no. I'm sure in a few years we'll remember we went to IKEA. But we won't remember the majority of the day. All I hope is that I remember how important the time was. Either of us could have been doing a million different things. But we spent the time together...just being who we are. And the fact that she lets me be who I really am is what makes her amazing...
