Today was my Melissa's graduation ceremony. And yes, she is MY Melissa. She may not be my daughter but she means just as much to me! I am so proud of her and who she's becoming. I thought I'd be a little emotional during the ceremony but I wasn't. I was just so proud. I can't believe she's old enough though! Wow.
Look how much she's grown!!! She's always been beautiful but look at her now.
Melissa and her sister Emily have been my pride and joy for the last 11 years. Somedays they feel like my daughters, other times they feel like my sisters...but either way, they're a huge part of my heart. I'm so glad God has given me the chance to be a part of their lives all of these years and watch them grow. I know that as Melissa gets older, I won't get to spend nearly as much time with her. I know that the girls will grow out of all of the things we've all loved so much...Harry Potter movies, throwing erasers (ha ha), eating at Golden Corral until we can't move, playing the wii, taking pics for their mom, Emily sitting on my lap...so I'm even more thankful that I got to be a part of today. I hope Melissa knows just how important she is to me and how very proud I am of her. I know she's going to do amazing things and I hope that God gives me the chance to be a part of all of those things too.
