Small Wonder Wednesday

I must say...with the 1 million things going on in my head today...and my lack of sleep from seeing Eclipse last night (so worth it), it was kind of hard to concentrate on the "small wonders" today.  The morning started out a little frustrating.  Then the movie we took our kids today...a little dumb.  And made it hard to stay away.   I did!  But it just added to my sleepiness.  So I'm sitting here...trying to rack my brain of something.  I know there had to be several somethings but I feel like I missed them today.  That frustrates me.  A lot.  I want to be able to focus on the small things God has given me.  And to quit focusing on those things that I can't control...those things that upset me...those things that ruin my days...

I got to spend a little time with my little Layken...who always makes me smile!  She moved to another room in the center so I've tried to keep my distance so that she adjusts.  But this evening I had to go into her room to drop off some paperwork and there she was...and as soon as I walked in, she stood up, dropped her blanket and came running (as much as she can run).  And then there was Serenity.  A 17 month old little girl who I get to spend some time with because of a friend.  I think Serenity likes to tease me!  I've been trying to get her to say my name.  She'll say everything else and everybody else's name.  And as soon as anyone says "say Deidra," she clearly says "no no" and shakes her head...as she laughs!  But when I picked up Layken, their teacher looked at Serenity and said "say Deidra" and she said "Deda."  AWWW!  Melted my heart!

But those aren't my small wonders.  No no.  I was sitting here raking my brain (there isn't much of one tonight) and decided I'd start reading other blogs.  And check out what was going on around facebook land.  And an old friend of mine posted an update saying that she found out she had cancer.  Hmmmm..  It's hard to hear.  She started a blog to keep everyone updated.  Yes, she found out she had cancer.  But her blog was my "small wonder" today.  Her foundation in her faith...amazing.  Her trust in God...trusting that no matter what the outcome, He is taking care of her...well, that's actually no "small wonder."  I would hope that if i was told I had cancer, I'd be able to have the same attitude.  But I don't know.  And as I read her new blog, I was reminded of what an amazing God we have...no matter what the situation.  Go check it out.  It is a new blog.  But at least you can see what my little small wonder for today was.  And I hope you had PLENTY!!!

New Year, New Me

New year, new me. Who says that? Ok, a lot of people so no offense if you’re one of them.  But I like me. Sure, I’m not perfect. But I don’t want to really change all of me.  So no silly quote like that for me! It is hard to believe that 2019 is here. The older I get, the quicker time flies by.  I do remember being told that when I was a teenager.  Those people were so right.  It feels like yesterday that I was sitting in my quiet house while Johanna was off with friends celebrating the start of 2018.  But that was a year ago.  Today, I’m still sitting in my quiet house but that’s because Karyna is just waking up for the day.   A few years ago, I used to work on videos that would highlight my year.  I loved doing them but they took time.  And that’s time that I don’t have as much of these days.  It’s hard to go through a year of pictures and videos.  Do you know how many pictures I take a year?  My goodness!...

Friday Follow

How come when it's time to do the Friday Follow, I have nothing interesting to say??? Hmmmm...it's been a long week.  Days where things just didn't make sense.  Lots I need to process.  It's possible that all of my thinking will lead to a great post this weekend.  But for now, I just hope all of you new visitors find something interesting to read from other posts here.  I plan to spend this rainy weekend doing some thinking, relaxing, watching movies and checking out new blogs!  Sounds like a good way to spend the weekend, right?  :-)  Thanks for stopping by!

New Cards!!!

So between resting this weekend (cause my allergies kicked my butt...especially yesterday), I worked on making some cards.  It's been SO long since I've actually spent time doing something like this and I LOVE making cards!  So I wanted to share them with you.  I made 20 cards total.  2 each of 10 designs.  So now there's two sets of friendship cards.  I think I'm going to try to sell one set.  Then I think give the other set away.  I'm just not sure how.  Any ideas?  I'm thinking if you leave a comment about the cards you'll be entered to win.  If you buy one set of cards, you'll also be entered to win.  Hows that sound?
