Man, it's been a beautiful day! And I'd say that after all of the storms last night, we got pretty lucky. Blessed really. I've seen the videos from north of here. Homes destroyed. A high school demolished. They're saying 7 people died in Ohio last night from the storms. It's hard to believe that kind of destruction happened when you look at the sky today.
I had wanted to spend today on my swing. This was the perfect weather for reading, writing, and swinging. But my swing was wet. So instead, I just opened all of my windows and my front door. The central air needed a break! Apparently being inside seemed like a good idea because this little guy kept trying to get in!
He kept picking at the screen on the door. He came to the door 11 times! But I finally had to scare him off. He was starting to make holes in the screen.
I watched Flicka for the first time today. What a great movie! My plan is to watch Flicka 2 sometime this week. I've always been a city girl. I grew up in teh suburbs but still, it was nothing like the country - especially once everyone started building these huge houses everywhere. And I was ok with that. I'm nota huge fan of bugs and the smell of pigs! Plus, I like being close to Wal-Mart (just being honest here). But I also like some quiet, time to just look at the sky and the things God created. I wanted to be on that ranch today as I watched Flicka - watching the horses run, overlooking that gorgeous land. I'm still here in the city, but my deck is a very small piece of the country for me. Looking at the trees. The sky. Just a reminder that God is in control and He has an amazing plan for me.
Somedays I wish I know what that plan was. I'm sure it would make this adult life a little easier (I never wanted to be any older than 9). But either way, I'm extremely grateful for the blue skies today and the peace they brought my soul. I'm handing my thoughts over to God. That's where they belong. He told me it wouldn't be easy. But He also told me He'd never leave me. The blue sky is proof of that today. I'm extremely grateful today for the blue sky, green trees and even the little bird that wanted in. God made sure that I knew He was here and that His plan for me continues to unfold.
