Valentine's Day

I'm the first to admit that I'm not a big fan of Valentine's Day.  Yes, a small part of it's because I'm single.  But another, much bigger part of it is because the couples hanging all over each other and acting like this is the biggest day ever get on my nerves!  Don't get me wrong.  I'm a hopeless romantic.  I want the roses.  I want the special gifts.  But I don't want them because it's Valentine's Day.  I want them because you love me.  Everyday.  I'm not saying Valentine's Day can't be romantic.  I know it can be.  I'm just not quite that girl.  And so usually this day (well, tomorrow really) every year, I avoid the public.  People are standing in front of the card sections at stores pretending they didn't know the day was coming.  They buy every flower they see.  They buy tons of chocolate, teddy bears (which I do love), candles and all of that other stuff.  Just to prove they love someone.  Hmmmmm...would all of that be so necessary if you showed them on a daily basis how much you loved them?  Again, don't get me wrong.  It's sweet.  Romantic at times.  But so many people over do it. And let's not even go there about retail stores jacking up prices on flowers, cards, balloons, stuffed animals...what a rip off.

I remember years ago...during high school and shortly after, a few friends of mine and I would spend Valentine's Day together.  We'd actually call it Friendship Day!  Who cared about boys!  We had each other!  We'd eat ice cream out of the containers.  We'd order pizza.  Rent movies.  Do each other's hair.  And just be together.  Now, all of those friends are married except me!  But the point was simple.  We were spending the day with people we loved.  It didn't matter that we were single.  We were happy!  I miss those days.

I think for me, this Valentine's Day is a reminder that I need to show the people I love how much I love them on a daily basis.  It's not about gifts and cards.  It's about showing people...through your actions...that you love them...no matter what.  Lately, some days have been harder than others to love some people unconditionally.  I am only human!  ☺  But I don't want them to ever doubt that I love them and will be there for them no matter what.

Like I said, I'm not against romantics.  I'm a hopeless romantic myself!  I have dreams of being swept off of my feet.  I have dreams of meeting that perfect guy for me and falling head over heals.  I'm just not a huge fan of Valentine's Day.  But even so, I love romantic movies and so I rented a few for tonight while I avoid the romantic crowd that will be out and about (and making out in public places just because it's ok this weekend).  And so I plan to spend the evening reminding those around me that I love them and enjoying some good chick flicks!

♥HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY WEEKEND!!♥

New Year, New Me

New year, new me. Who says that? Ok, a lot of people so no offense if you’re one of them.  But I like me. Sure, I’m not perfect. But I don’t want to really change all of me.  So no silly quote like that for me! It is hard to believe that 2019 is here. The older I get, the quicker time flies by.  I do remember being told that when I was a teenager.  Those people were so right.  It feels like yesterday that I was sitting in my quiet house while Johanna was off with friends celebrating the start of 2018.  But that was a year ago.  Today, I’m still sitting in my quiet house but that’s because Karyna is just waking up for the day.   A few years ago, I used to work on videos that would highlight my year.  I loved doing them but they took time.  And that’s time that I don’t have as much of these days.  It’s hard to go through a year of pictures and videos.  Do you know how many pictures I take a year?  My goodness!...

Lots of Names

Well, this is my fourth Friday in my apartment!!! It really does feel like home for the most part!!! Tera helped me...wait...I take that back. Tera MOVED my swing and table from mom and dad's a few weeks ago and so that is now on my deck! I love it!! Although, I have to admit that I haven't been home too much to enjoy it but at least I know it's there. Hopefully I'll get the chance to relax on my swing this weekend. I set my smoke alarm off the other night! That was funny! I was cooking a chicken patty and some fries in the oven. All of a sudden I hear this loud beeping! Of course once I realized it was the smoke alarm, I ran into the kitchen. Everything was good in there! Food was cooking just fine! Apparently it just got too hot in here for the smoke alarm. The funny part though is me standing on the chair trying to figure out why the alarm won't quit chirping every 45 seconds...even after I took out the battery! So after a text to the landlords (who laughed), I r...
