My Walk...lately

So I've got all kinds of things on my mind today! One being, STREP THROAT IS NOT FUN! And the medication they give you to get rid of it, not much fun either! Just thought I'd share that!

I've spent the last week maybe reading things and evaluating things and definitely just thinking about things. And so there's several subjects I'd love to touch on right now but I'm going to do one at a time.

This one is going to be about a person. A specific person. My cousin Becky. (I'd include a picture of us together but the last one is from when she got married and well, I've got bangs in that picture...I'm not posting that!) Becky and I grew up in school together (she was a year ahead of me). And I think we will both admit that we don't keep in touch like we know we should but we are doing better these days!

My mom says she can remember when Becky and I were little and at Grandma and Grandpa Lambert's (my grandparents, her great grandparents) and we would always tell people we were cousins and we were so proud! And I remember growing up in school and Becky having no fear telling people we were cousins! And looking back on it, I know that sometimes even I was amazed! Especially during my elementary years, I had a lot of kids who made fun of me because I was "black" or because my mom was black and my dad was white. And even though I didn't let it bug me a lot, I still noticed and sometimes it hurt. So to see Becky be so proud to have me as a cousin meant so much to me. (For those of you who don't know Becky, yes, she's white!) And probably even made some of those early years a lot easier!

Over the last...I don't know...I'd say year, Becky and I have kept in touch a little bit more. My aunt past away last year and Becky was right there to offer support and prayers. Becky started a blog not too long ago (which is how I got into it) and so we've been keeping in touch much better the last few weeks!

OK...I know I'm babbling but hang with me! Becky has a separate blog where she talks about her walk with God and the things in her life she's struggling with or accomplishing. It's awesome to be able to hear about her walk with the Lord almost on a daily basis. And every time I read her blog, I end up hitting myself upside the head because she's said something that is so close to what's going on in my life or something I'm struggling with. And it's awesome because I feel like God is saying, "See, you're not the only one" or "This is what I wanted you to hear!"

I have learned so much from this woman over the last week. And I know it's God. I know God is speaking through her to so many people...not just me. And it's so awesome to see what God is doing through her. It's also encouraging because I know that He's doing things through me as well...some of them through her, some of them through others and some where it's just me and Him.

So over the last week, I've spent a lot of time thinking about so many things that I'm not sure I would have done had it not been for her and her walk with the Lord...at least not quite yet. And I've done so much reading of my Bible (which is usually one of those things I unfortunately don't do like I should) and praying and just really concentrating on what God wants. But I've also been thinking a lot about Becky...us growing up, us now...and the role she plays in my life. And I've realized that this is a woman who I've always looked up to, someone I've also trusted and someone who's always been a supporter in my life. I'm sure I've known that all my life...but it hasn't been until the last week that I've actually sat back and said, "Wow." God is amazing. And He puts people in our lives for a reason. I know that Becky and I are family because God knew I'd need her. And what a blessing she's been!

Deidra, you're just awesome! And it never occurred to me for a minute that i should be anything but proud to have you for a cousin. You have always been someone to admire and look up to. You have modeled a consistent walk with God better than anyone I know who is a part of the same generation as me. I am sure that God has great things in mind for you!

New Year, New Me

New year, new me. Who says that? Ok, a lot of people so no offense if you’re one of them.  But I like me. Sure, I’m not perfect. But I don’t want to really change all of me.  So no silly quote like that for me! It is hard to believe that 2019 is here. The older I get, the quicker time flies by.  I do remember being told that when I was a teenager.  Those people were so right.  It feels like yesterday that I was sitting in my quiet house while Johanna was off with friends celebrating the start of 2018.  But that was a year ago.  Today, I’m still sitting in my quiet house but that’s because Karyna is just waking up for the day.   A few years ago, I used to work on videos that would highlight my year.  I loved doing them but they took time.  And that’s time that I don’t have as much of these days.  It’s hard to go through a year of pictures and videos.  Do you know how many pictures I take a year?  My goodness!...

Friday Follow

How come when it's time to do the Friday Follow, I have nothing interesting to say??? Hmmmm...it's been a long week.  Days where things just didn't make sense.  Lots I need to process.  It's possible that all of my thinking will lead to a great post this weekend.  But for now, I just hope all of you new visitors find something interesting to read from other posts here.  I plan to spend this rainy weekend doing some thinking, relaxing, watching movies and checking out new blogs!  Sounds like a good way to spend the weekend, right?  :-)  Thanks for stopping by!

New Cards!!!

So between resting this weekend (cause my allergies kicked my butt...especially yesterday), I worked on making some cards.  It's been SO long since I've actually spent time doing something like this and I LOVE making cards!  So I wanted to share them with you.  I made 20 cards total.  2 each of 10 designs.  So now there's two sets of friendship cards.  I think I'm going to try to sell one set.  Then I think give the other set away.  I'm just not sure how.  Any ideas?  I'm thinking if you leave a comment about the cards you'll be entered to win.  If you buy one set of cards, you'll also be entered to win.  Hows that sound?
