I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!! It's my favorite holiday!!! And I think that's because it was both of my grandmothers' favorite holiday and they always made it so much fun! In some ways, they were the complete opposites. Grandma had the money to decorate everything beautifully and buy us all everything we wanted and MUCH more! But it wasn't the money that made it all so beautiful. It was because she loved the holiday so much and us even more. She made every one of us feel special. Then there was Gram. She didn't have the money. She put up a small tree. There wasn't much to the gifts. But that didn't matter. She was always so happy when we were all together for the holidays!! And she could even make a pair of socks exciting to open! Man, I miss them both. I wish they had both lived to see where I am today but I know they're out there watching over me. And it's because of them that I love Christmas so much.
And so I decorated!!! I got the decorations up today! I wanted to yesterday but the exhaustion from my shopping trip settled in and getting the fireplace done and the tree up was all I could do. So today I finished. I put the lights and the ornaments on the tree. I even put out cute little Christmas throws on my chairs! The snowmen are out (even though Snoodles chewed on them both the first year we had her). And of course you can't forget the nativity scene. The Christmas lights outside have been up for about a week. I did that the last time we had warm weather (good thing). I even decorated my bathroom! You can laugh! I'm ok with that but I got the cutest little Christmas set for the bathroom! Don't worry...once everything is cleaned around here and I'll take pics and post them. Plus I have a delivery coming next week. I'm kind of excited about it! So I don't want to post any pics til that is in the house and in place!
I had a nice, relaxing, stuffed Thanksgiving! It was just me, mom and dad over at mom and dad's. And mom acted like she was cooking for a small country! We had so much food! But she was quite excited that I was home (and I think she got a little carried away...I only live down the street). It was so delicious though! And of course, she sent plenty home with me!
Yep, I got up WAY BEFORE THE CRACK OF DAWN on Friday and shopped! It was just Staci and I this year. Shanda couldn't join us cause she is so close to her due date. (It's hard to believe that soon enough there will be 3 Cox children running around. And one will be a girl!) And we decided to head out at 2:30am. WE'RE INSANE!!!! But it was fun!! I have to say that I managed to buy myself a few things. Is that wrong?? There were some GREAT deals! I just couldn't pass them up...right????
The long weekend is almost over. I'm ok with that. I think. I don't really like Mondays but I'm ready to be back into my routine. Plus, this is when things get busy. We're just a few weeks away from our Christmas program. As I said earlier, Shanda will be having that baby any time. We're planning for our staff Christmas party. It's almost the end of the year. The list goes on. And I'm kind of ready to be back into the swing of things. I know...I make it sound like I've been off of work for weeks! But considering how often I take a day off (never), 4 days feels like 4 weeks!!!
