A Blast

So the question I've been hearing all day is, "Did you have a good time last night?" As most of you know, my 10 year class reunion was last night and yes, I had A BLAST! Before the evening (or morning, depending on your view of time) was over, several of us had decided we'd make this a yearly thing because we had so much fun!

Most of you know I had some mixed feelings about going. It wasn't that I didn't want to see quite a few people I hadn't seen in ages and really wanted to...it had nothing to do with that. There were several other reasons.

I have to say that even though we've all done a lot of changing (somehow Scott managed to be voted "the most changed" although I'm not sure how true that is...no offense, Scott...I just think it's cause I know you fairly well...you know I love ya), so many things were still the same. Most of us sat in those same little cliques we had so many years ago. Most of us were mature enough though to make sure we spoke to most people!

It was so good to spend time with some of my favorite people again. And there were so many things I had completely forgotten about and once I saw them or someone brought something up, we were laughing all over again! Yolanda reminded me of Mrs. Torres sitting on a desk and it breaking during a Spanish class. We were crying just talking about it! We talked about how Yolanda slept through quite a few classes but woke up at just the right time to tell our English class that I had run over Mrs. Walters dog (which I didn't!). Then there was the "stripper" song (that's what we called it) in band!! We got a great laugh out of remembering NaShe' trying to hurt Brandon on one of the band buses!! And Scott brought up the "rose"...which I have to say not as many people knew about as I thought...so we had to explain that one.

I know you're all waiting for some great pictures from me and again, I was way off my game last night. I did a lot of talking so my camera stayed on the table almost all night!! I know...so unlike me. So the pictures that I will eventually share will have to come from Heather. And I'm going to bug her til she sends them my way.

The night was full of laughs for us...great memories!! And I wouldn't have done it any differently. (Ok...there was maybe one or two things...maybe...but I wont' get into that.) I think I can honestly speak for the group of us that spent the majority of the night together-me, Heather, Scott, Beth (her husband Craig), Yolanda (her boyfriend Anthony), NaShe' (her boyfriend John) and Sarah-we'd do it all over again. We had a great time!
And again, we've all changed but it was funny to see us all resume those same roles we had in high school...as far as our group of friends go. As Scott said about me several times, "Well, that's Deidra. Always has been." And I'm more than ok with that! We've all had a certain role in one anothers lives and I don't think last night was any different. And I really thought there would be certain people I'd miss, but it wasn't until today that I gave much thought to the fact they weren't there. And it's not because we didn't care. It would have been great to see them. Just for me, I believe that we were in the right place at the right time. It felt like 10 years hadn't passed. And honestly, there were a few of us who hadn't seen each other in almost 10 years and if we had, we hadn't spent much quality time together.

Whether that group of us sticks to what we said about getting together every year, I really do hope that no matter what, we stay in contact. Maybe this will sound corny but oh well. I really learned a lot about who I was last night...and my connection to others...and even though I'm not always sure why God does what He does, I felt like last night we were brought together for a reason. And considering the...how do I say it...the "state" some were in when the evening was over (don't jump to conclusions...you all know me well), God probably didn't cross their minds and that's ok. I just know that whether it's tomorrow...or 20 years down the road, we'll remember last night (for MANY reasons) and we were together for a reason. Doesn't get much better than that....

New Year, New Me

New year, new me. Who says that? Ok, a lot of people so no offense if you’re one of them.  But I like me. Sure, I’m not perfect. But I don’t want to really change all of me.  So no silly quote like that for me! It is hard to believe that 2019 is here. The older I get, the quicker time flies by.  I do remember being told that when I was a teenager.  Those people were so right.  It feels like yesterday that I was sitting in my quiet house while Johanna was off with friends celebrating the start of 2018.  But that was a year ago.  Today, I’m still sitting in my quiet house but that’s because Karyna is just waking up for the day.   A few years ago, I used to work on videos that would highlight my year.  I loved doing them but they took time.  And that’s time that I don’t have as much of these days.  It’s hard to go through a year of pictures and videos.  Do you know how many pictures I take a year?  My goodness!...

Lots of Names

Well, this is my fourth Friday in my apartment!!! It really does feel like home for the most part!!! Tera helped me...wait...I take that back. Tera MOVED my swing and table from mom and dad's a few weeks ago and so that is now on my deck! I love it!! Although, I have to admit that I haven't been home too much to enjoy it but at least I know it's there. Hopefully I'll get the chance to relax on my swing this weekend. I set my smoke alarm off the other night! That was funny! I was cooking a chicken patty and some fries in the oven. All of a sudden I hear this loud beeping! Of course once I realized it was the smoke alarm, I ran into the kitchen. Everything was good in there! Food was cooking just fine! Apparently it just got too hot in here for the smoke alarm. The funny part though is me standing on the chair trying to figure out why the alarm won't quit chirping every 45 seconds...even after I took out the battery! So after a text to the landlords (who laughed), I r...
