Life Condensed

For those of you who receive my "thought of the day" texts that I sometimes send out, I sent one last week from a devotion I was reading. I had planned to get the whole devotion up here last week and just let it slip my mind. But it was in my thoughts today so I wanted to make sure I shared it with you all!! And if you don't get my "thought of the day" texts, but you'd like to, just let me know! I'll be glad to share with you as well!

Life Condensed

Condensed soup. Condensed milk. Condensed books. We like all sorts of things that are condensed, consolidated, compressed, abridged or abbreviated. Make it short. Make it quick. Whatever saves time. Whatever gets us to the bottom line.

The condensed version of King Josiah's life is found in a single sentence. Thirty-one words in one verse sum up the essence of his entire life: "he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord and walked in all the ways of his father David, not turning aside to the right or to the left." Amazing! Concise! Josiah walked the parth of righteousness wihout swerving.

Josiah became king at age 8 and reigned until his death at 39. His father and grandfather both reigned over Judah before him. Both "did evil in the eyes of the Lord" (2 Kings 21:20). Despite his evil legacy, Josiah turned his heart toward God. And although Judah, the nation he ruled, had turned to worship false gods, Josiah did not waver in his allegiance to the one true God. No other king before or after him stayed on course like Josiah.

If youre life were condensed into a short synopsis - one brieft sentence - what would be said of you? How our lives are summarized depends on the choices we make each day. We have the tendency to become distracted with the cares and responsibilities of life. Laundry piles up. Bills need to be paid. Children get sick. As we care for our families and do our work, it's easy to become sidetracked from our primary purpose: pleasing God. It is easier to give lip service to spiritual things than to stay on course, keeping in step with the Spirit (see Galations 5:25).

How will you be remembered? Eventually, someone will write your orbituary or eulogy. Your life will be abridged into a few brief sentences and paragraphs. What will be said of you? More important, how will God summarize your life?

Let it be said of you, "_______________ (fill in your name) did what was right in the eyes of teh Lord and walked in the way of truth, not turning aside to the right or to the left."

Makes you think, doesn't it????????

New Year, New Me

New year, new me. Who says that? Ok, a lot of people so no offense if you’re one of them.  But I like me. Sure, I’m not perfect. But I don’t want to really change all of me.  So no silly quote like that for me! It is hard to believe that 2019 is here. The older I get, the quicker time flies by.  I do remember being told that when I was a teenager.  Those people were so right.  It feels like yesterday that I was sitting in my quiet house while Johanna was off with friends celebrating the start of 2018.  But that was a year ago.  Today, I’m still sitting in my quiet house but that’s because Karyna is just waking up for the day.   A few years ago, I used to work on videos that would highlight my year.  I loved doing them but they took time.  And that’s time that I don’t have as much of these days.  It’s hard to go through a year of pictures and videos.  Do you know how many pictures I take a year?  My goodness!...

Friday Follow

How come when it's time to do the Friday Follow, I have nothing interesting to say??? Hmmmm...it's been a long week.  Days where things just didn't make sense.  Lots I need to process.  It's possible that all of my thinking will lead to a great post this weekend.  But for now, I just hope all of you new visitors find something interesting to read from other posts here.  I plan to spend this rainy weekend doing some thinking, relaxing, watching movies and checking out new blogs!  Sounds like a good way to spend the weekend, right?  :-)  Thanks for stopping by!

New Cards!!!

So between resting this weekend (cause my allergies kicked my butt...especially yesterday), I worked on making some cards.  It's been SO long since I've actually spent time doing something like this and I LOVE making cards!  So I wanted to share them with you.  I made 20 cards total.  2 each of 10 designs.  So now there's two sets of friendship cards.  I think I'm going to try to sell one set.  Then I think give the other set away.  I'm just not sure how.  Any ideas?  I'm thinking if you leave a comment about the cards you'll be entered to win.  If you buy one set of cards, you'll also be entered to win.  Hows that sound?
