I must say, I am one happy girl! I said goodbye to the Deidramobile last Wed.
I will say, it was sad. I loved this car!! Lots of great, funny memories in this car! Plus it had tons of room and it fit my personality. Plus, the Deidramobile came into my life with some other changes and so it was a great comfort to get in at times, turn the music up real high and sing my heart out. But the Deidramobile was having problem after problem. I put A LOT of money into it in 2013. It even ruined my small 35th birthday trip because the dumb engine light came on and the problem was a big deal. So when I took it into the shop a few weeks ago and got the list of things wrong with it, I had to do some thinking. Did I put even more money in to it (and continue to do so) or was it time to look for something new? I decided to look just to see if I could get something better but within my price range. I test drove a mini van last Monday and I did like it. But I wasn't in love with it. Luckily, when they sat down to do some number crunching with me, it wasn't in my price range and so they said they were going to try to work on some other numbers for me on Tues. I didn't realize that was a blessing until Wed. I went out to another dealership on Tues with some advice from a friend. This was the same dealership I bought the Deidramobile and my focus from. I ended up driving back to work in a small SUV that day while they worked on a better plan for me. I really liked this SUV. Rode great! And really, at the end of the day, how a car drives is probably the most important thing. (I would like to think the most important thing is the sound system but we all know the sound system won't get you from point A to point B!)
I had a board meeting Tues evening and so I was hesitant on driving that SUV because I knew I wouldn't be able to take it back that evening. They assured me it was fine and sent me on my way. Later that evening after my meeting, I went to get my mom and took her for a little drive in the SUV. And I'll admit, we went to check on the Deidramobile while we were out driving to make sure that it was OK over in the dealership lot! I know, silly but I loved the Deidramobile!
So I returned the SUV on Wed morning wondering what was going to happen next. I'm going to make a long story, shorter for you! But God definitely orchestrated all of this!!! On what I make, on the amount of money I had to put down...I should not have drove home with this car, but I did. And I love it!!!!
It's a 2014 Nissan Altima. It had 114 miles on it before I test drove it. (It now has over 300 miles because I love driving it around!!!) No, it's not a big car but I am more than ok with that. It's going to change my budget a little but it just means I need to watch my money a little closer. I really do love it! It drives so smoothly! It's just a cool car!!! And yes, I love the sound system!!! Plus, I'm sure all of my Ohio State stuff will look great with the color of the car! (My OSU dice are already hanging from the rearview mirror and I got some new OSU floor mats for the front and the Easter bunny brought me some for the back!)
I've never owned a new car. I've never had a car that was only ever mine. It's a good feeling! Did I mention I love it? And let's talk about the gas mileage. I forgot how much I missed great gas mileage!!! I would have already had to fill the Deidramobile up again with all of the driving I'm been doing the last week. But nope. Not in this new car!!! WOO HOO!!!
It still doesn't have a name yet. I'm stuck on what to call it but I know I'll decide soon. And don't worry, I'll let you know what I name in. In the mean time, I'm just going to continue to thank God for this HUGE blessing!!!
