Keeping My Attitude in Check...

I'm currently trying to keep my attitude in check.  Now, if you don't know me well, then you're probably guessing this isn't a huge problem.  I don't usually fly off at the handle at people.  I may roll my eyes.  I may get quiet.  But more than likely...I'm not being mean.  My mother taught me better than that (I think that's a good thing).  But when you mess with the people that mean the most to me, I have a hard time keeping my thoughts to myself...

But I'm going to.  Because I know that's the right thing to do.  I also know we're all adults and so drama is not needed.  Although I have learned that the drama in adult life can be way worse than it ever was in high school.  Why is that?  We should be growing out of this stuff...not still walking in it.

The one thing I've learned (don't worry...I've learned more than one thing in my 32 1/2 years of life) over the last few years is that as adults, we tend to hurt those around us more than we did as kids.  I'm sure part of that is the fact that we are adults...and so we think things aren't supposed to hurt as much, we think things like this aren't supposed to happen, our friends list is much shorter so we don't recover as quickly by moving on to new friends...you get the picture.  I've also learned the hurt can be a good thing.  If we're willing to keep our attitude in check and look at both sides of the picture, it's not always so black and white.  There's usually a reason someone is being crappy.  That doesn't make it ok but we also can't act like there's not two sides to the story.  And when we can step away from the hurt (which I know is HARD), we can see that there's a much bigger plan to all of this mess.

I'm trying to remember that as I know a friend is hurting.  And I saw it coming.  I think that's the worst part.  But I also knew there was nothing you can do.  You can warn them.  But sometimes that doesn't change anything.  They see things differently.  But now she hurts.  And part of me would like to fix that by a little revenge.  Besides, the friend wasn't the only person who got hurt in this whole mess that was created.  But I also know that revenge is not ok.  It may make me feel good for a little bit but in the end, I end up stooping to that level.  I don't want to do that.  So I'm trying to be a good friend...just listening.  It's just hard...cause I know it hurts.  And it affects several of us.  And I'm trying to remember that God has a much bigger plan and we just need to be patient.

This whole being an adult thing is definitely for the birds!

New Year, New Me

New year, new me. Who says that? Ok, a lot of people so no offense if you’re one of them.  But I like me. Sure, I’m not perfect. But I don’t want to really change all of me.  So no silly quote like that for me! It is hard to believe that 2019 is here. The older I get, the quicker time flies by.  I do remember being told that when I was a teenager.  Those people were so right.  It feels like yesterday that I was sitting in my quiet house while Johanna was off with friends celebrating the start of 2018.  But that was a year ago.  Today, I’m still sitting in my quiet house but that’s because Karyna is just waking up for the day.   A few years ago, I used to work on videos that would highlight my year.  I loved doing them but they took time.  And that’s time that I don’t have as much of these days.  It’s hard to go through a year of pictures and videos.  Do you know how many pictures I take a year?  My goodness!...

Lots of Names

Well, this is my fourth Friday in my apartment!!! It really does feel like home for the most part!!! Tera helped me...wait...I take that back. Tera MOVED my swing and table from mom and dad's a few weeks ago and so that is now on my deck! I love it!! Although, I have to admit that I haven't been home too much to enjoy it but at least I know it's there. Hopefully I'll get the chance to relax on my swing this weekend. I set my smoke alarm off the other night! That was funny! I was cooking a chicken patty and some fries in the oven. All of a sudden I hear this loud beeping! Of course once I realized it was the smoke alarm, I ran into the kitchen. Everything was good in there! Food was cooking just fine! Apparently it just got too hot in here for the smoke alarm. The funny part though is me standing on the chair trying to figure out why the alarm won't quit chirping every 45 seconds...even after I took out the battery! So after a text to the landlords (who laughed), I r...
