The Gang's All Here

Yep. I'm up early. It's 7:44am and I'm sitting in a Panera Bread. And nope, I'm not a morning person. But Keagen is so worth it! Today was his first day of kindergarten. And the gang was all there to watch him get on the bus! Out of...what do I want to call us...the core group of friends, Shanda is the only one with kids. And Keagen was her first. I can remember the day she told me she was pregnant!!! She called and asked how I would feel about being an aunt again. I assumed she meant she was getting another dog! :-)  But instead, she was pregnant with Keagen.  And for the longest time before she found out what she was having, we called him Peanut!  Cute isn't it?  I also remember how I was feeling at the time.  I hadn't been at Trinity long.  My days were suppppppppppppeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr long.  I worked at the day care from 6:30am-1:30pm everyday and then I had a group of school-agers I watched from 2:15-about 5:30pm everyday.  Yep, long days.  And I remember shortly after Shanda had Keagen saying to myself (and probably her too) that I wasn't sure if Trinity and the nursery is where I wanted to be.  I loved the girls...don't get me wrong.  But it didn't seem like its where I wanted to be.  Babies crying all day.  It's not a job anyone can do.

But then I remember the day Keagen was born...he was PERFECT (of course).  If Shanda and Dustin would have let me, I think I would have stole him away right then!  What a beautiful baby boy.  And I remember realizing over the next few weeks as I helped spoil him, that Trinity and in the nursery is where God wanted me.  It's kind of funny how just looking at a precious baby boy can completely change how you're feeling.

Anyway...as of tomorrow, that was 6 years ago.  And although I knew I wouldn't be as emotional as his mom this morning, I knew watching him get on the bus would be hard.  But he did so good!!  He was ready!!!  And there we were...the gang...Shanda, Fawne, Staci and I watching Keagen get on the bus.  He probably thought we were insane.  Shanda was crying.  Staci was making sure we were all laughing.  Fawne was laughing!!  And I was just watching him get on.  But at this point, Keagen is probably used to us and our different dynamics.

So our big boy got on the bus today.  I know he'll do fine.  He's a very smart little boy!  The kids will like him.  The teachers will adore him.  And even though I'm sure he'll be a boy and get himself into trouble, he'll be a good kid.  Just hard to believe that he's old enough to go off to school everyday.  And it's interesting to look back and see how we've all changed and grown over the last six years.

As I stood there with the girls this morning watching him get on the bus, I prayed first of all that he'd have a great day and that God would continue to hold Keagen in His arms.  But I also prayed that even though Keagen probably thinks his mom and his 3 aunts are a little on the crazy side, that we've each impacted his life in a positive way and that he can take what he's learned from our friendship and pass it on to others.

**I'll post pics this afternoon!**

New Year, New Me

New year, new me. Who says that? Ok, a lot of people so no offense if you’re one of them.  But I like me. Sure, I’m not perfect. But I don’t want to really change all of me.  So no silly quote like that for me! It is hard to believe that 2019 is here. The older I get, the quicker time flies by.  I do remember being told that when I was a teenager.  Those people were so right.  It feels like yesterday that I was sitting in my quiet house while Johanna was off with friends celebrating the start of 2018.  But that was a year ago.  Today, I’m still sitting in my quiet house but that’s because Karyna is just waking up for the day.   A few years ago, I used to work on videos that would highlight my year.  I loved doing them but they took time.  And that’s time that I don’t have as much of these days.  It’s hard to go through a year of pictures and videos.  Do you know how many pictures I take a year?  My goodness!...

Friday Follow

How come when it's time to do the Friday Follow, I have nothing interesting to say??? Hmmmm...it's been a long week.  Days where things just didn't make sense.  Lots I need to process.  It's possible that all of my thinking will lead to a great post this weekend.  But for now, I just hope all of you new visitors find something interesting to read from other posts here.  I plan to spend this rainy weekend doing some thinking, relaxing, watching movies and checking out new blogs!  Sounds like a good way to spend the weekend, right?  :-)  Thanks for stopping by!

New Cards!!!

So between resting this weekend (cause my allergies kicked my butt...especially yesterday), I worked on making some cards.  It's been SO long since I've actually spent time doing something like this and I LOVE making cards!  So I wanted to share them with you.  I made 20 cards total.  2 each of 10 designs.  So now there's two sets of friendship cards.  I think I'm going to try to sell one set.  Then I think give the other set away.  I'm just not sure how.  Any ideas?  I'm thinking if you leave a comment about the cards you'll be entered to win.  If you buy one set of cards, you'll also be entered to win.  Hows that sound?
