Have you ever moved before? I'm sure most of you have. Did you like doing it? Ugh. I hate it! And I think it's worse this time because I wasn't prepared for it. I wasn't planning to move. I hadn't started any summer purging where I get rid of a lot of things. None of that had happened. And yes, the majority of my downstairs had been destroyed. Don't get me wrong, I was grateful it wasn't my entire apartment but I don't think you realize how many clothes and Thirty-One items I have! So the majority of what was left of my downstairs plus everything that was given to me to replace the items I lost has been moved into my new home. I spent my first night there last Friday and I slept so good! Not sure if it was from exhaustion or from the fact that I knew I was in my own place again, but either way, it felt good!
But now comes the boring part. Going through all that hasn't been moved. Getting things organized. Throwing things away. Packing what goes with me. Getting things ready for Goodwill. AHHH!!! I've said it several times over the last few days; remember those Oreo commercials called "unlock the magic"? All the actor did was take a part an Oreo and things would happen! Bedrooms would get cleaned! I feel like that should happen for me! I'm even willing to eat a whole box of Oreos to make this happen! Ugh. Wishful thinking...
Buckeye seemed to adjust to the new home quite well. He's still getting used to the sounds around the neighborhood so he's barking a little more than normal but it's gotten better and I know he will start to get used to things.
All of my friends have been amazing! Getting lots of help from them. They've helped me move things. They've helped me pack. They helped me go through all of my things that were affected by the flood. I have no idea what I would do without all of these amazing people God put into my life!!!
I'm ready to settle into a more normal life. I want to get back into my routine. (I also want to start to build my savings back up since I've *drained* my account due to this flood.) I know it will come soon. I know sooner than later, this will all be a distant memory and I'll be so thankful for every step of this journey. And even now, I'm thankful. God has done some amazing things in my life just over the 3 weeks. Things have happened that I never dreamed possible! And I know he will continue to provide and bless me. But I will be thankful to find my new normal!
