Blog Star

I haven't done one of these in awhile but today I'm linking up with Mrs. Monologues and doing Blog Star!  I hope you'll join in too.  It's a great way to check out new blogs and get some new readers for yourself!

Mrs. Monologues

For those of you that are new to my blog, welcome!!!  I hope you'll come back and read some more!  And hopefully I'll be finding some more free time to keep you updated!  Let me tell you a little about myself.  I'm from a smaller town in Ohio.  I say smaller cause it's not as small your normal "small" towns but it's not exactly big either!  But I like it here.  I'm not someone who constantly has to be doing something fun and exciting so having just a few places to go is perfectly fine with me!

I love to read!!  I keep buying books this summer as if I'll have time to read them all!  I just bought 4 new ones yesterday and I'm already currently reading 2 (that's not including my book for Bible study) and I have at least 2 others I bought to read this summer.  Hopefully I can get to them all!

I'm an amateur photographer.  When I say I'm amateur, that simply means that I have this super expensive professional camera and I love to take pictures but I know I'm nowhere near being a photographer.  I also make handmade invitations.  You should jump on over to Heavenly Creations and see a few things.  (That's still a blog in progress but at least you can see a few things!)

I'm an assistant director at a daycare.  I love kids!!  I'm one of those people that is OK with chaos caused by kids.  Even when it's super loud around here, I can usually get things done (although, don't get me wrong, I do like quiet days as well).  Kids are truly a blessing.  How can you look at a kid and not wonder about God's greatness???  I just adore them!  I miss being in the classroom with them on a regular basis but I love this part of the job too.

I do love to write.  I've always wanted to have a book published someday...but no one has ever read anything I've written like that.  I'm too afraid!

My love for writing also means I still do old school journaling.  I have a journal I keep and I write in that as often as I can (not as often as I'd like).  I also still write letters!  I know...when is the last time you got a handwritten letter in the mail??  Well, my best friend down in West Virginia still gets one every few weeks!  Part of that is because she doesn't have an internet connection and half the time, the mountains get in the way of a good signal to her phone!  But it's also cause I just love to write!  There's just something therapeutic about it.

I'm the owner of two dogs.  Well, OK, lets say one just in case my dad hears about this!!!  There's Snoodles, my big old lab mix that lives with my mom and dad.  I couldn't take her with me when I moved into my first apartment so she stayed with mom and dad.  Dad thinks she's his anyways!  (Snoodles and I know the real truth!)  Then there's my Buckeye.

How cute is he???

This is my puggle.  I got him as soon as I moved into my recent apartment and he is the perfect dog for me!  He's smaller so he's perfect for my apartment.  He's also a very well behaved dog!  I got him from a friend of the family.  I never imagined how much I would truly adore him!  He brings a smile to my face everyday...even when he's being rotten (and there are plenty of rotten moments...he acts just like a toddler sometimes)!

I'm a 33 year old single girl.  No, I never imagined I'd be 33 and single.  But that's ok.  God apparently has a bigger plan.  Now, don't take that as me saying I don't want to get married. I still do!  I want to get married!  I want to have kids!!!  But I know God has a great plan for me and there's a reason why at 33 I'm still single.  So I'm going to patiently wait (sometimes my patience isn't all that great though).

And I love my God.  He is the reason I am who I am...He is the reason I'm where I'm at...I'm definitely far from perfect but He loves me anyway.  And at the end of the day, I know my job isn't to make you happy...it's to live for Him.  I don't always do it but I try.  Some days...well, just moments are harder than others.  But I know He's with me.

Tomorrow is the 4th of July!!!  And what do I love most about the 4th of July (other than a day off)??  FIREWORKS!!!!!!!!!!  I can't wait!!  And now that I do have this expensive professional camera, I'm excited to see what kind of pictures I can take with it!  We'll see.  I may screw them all up but hopefully I'll get a least one good shot I can post on here.  Oh!  I love food on the grill too.  Almost everyone grills out on the 4th of July.  How can you not?  And for me, it doesn't have to be steak or ribs...although I won't say no to those either...hot dogs or hamburgers are just as good for me!  (And that's probably what I'll have.)  Did I mention I'm excited about the fireworks????

I thought I'd hate having a Wednesday off of work when I have to go back to finish the week.  And maybe I will.  But today I woke up feeling like it wasn't a bad thing.  Work two days, get one off, work another two days, get two off.  Maybe I'll want a Wed off every week!

SPIDERMAN!!!  I can't wait to see Spiderman tonight!  I love the Spiderman movies!!  And I'm not one of those people already being skeptical of the movie because it's not Tobie Macguire (I think that's how you spell it).  I loved him as Spiderman but I'm sure I'll love this one just as much!  And don't worry, I will provide you with a review.

Speaking of reviews, should I review Magic Mike for all of you ladies????  I don't think I need to say anymore than this...get a group of friends and GO SEE IT!!!  You will enjoy every moment (and you'll laugh more than you thought you would)!!!  I will be seeing it again for sure!  (And probably buying it as soon as it comes out on DVD!)

I also saw Brave recently.  Oh my goodness, it was so good!  Now, I must say that the bear fighting scene may be a little much for some of the younger kids (or if you have kids afraid of stuff like that) but otherwise, this was probably one of the best kids' movies I've seen in awhile!  This is definitely another one I will add to my collection.  (And by the way, I didn't have any kids with me when I went to see it.  My friend Rachael and I went and we loved it just as much!  Go see it whether you have kids or not!)

I haven't reviewed a book in awhile either.  I can tell you if you love to read young adult books (like Hunger Games or even Twilight), read Divergent and Insurgent (in that order).  Just like Hunger Games, they are kind of violent (so don't let your 8 year old read it) but I loved them.  I couldn't put them down!!!  I'm now into the Vampire Academy series (yeah, maybe I'm not 33 after all) and I love it!!  It's no Twilight. And it's not a series I'll read as quickly as I did the Hunger Games but I still find it quite interesting.  I also read this book called Legend.  Also along the same lines as the Hunger Games.  I had a harder time getting into this book but then about half way through, I was hooked.  I'm also reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower.  Now this took a little time to get into.  The writing style is different.  It's more like you're reading a journal.  But I've gotten used to that and I'm really liking it.  The other night I found myself lauging out loud!  Oh!  Let's not forget my little Nook ratings!

Divergent:

Insurgent:

Vampire Academy (but only if you like Vampire Books):

Legend (if you can stay patient, once you get to the half way point, you will be hooked...but you have to be patient...):

I decided to use this picture of the Nook because this is the Nook I have now!  It's the Nook color, not the Nook tablet.  I tried to make the pictures smaller but it wouldnt' let me.  Sorry for taking up so much space!!!  I also just started reading The Bride Collector (yes, I'm someone who reads more than one book at a time).  It's by Ted Dekker and I love his suspense and the way he writes so I can't wait to review that one for you!!!

And to end this super long blog, here's a song I want you to listen to!  Thanks to Shi for reminding me of this one.  Love it!!!

Have a safe and fun 4th of July!!!

New Year, New Me

New year, new me. Who says that? Ok, a lot of people so no offense if you’re one of them.  But I like me. Sure, I’m not perfect. But I don’t want to really change all of me.  So no silly quote like that for me! It is hard to believe that 2019 is here. The older I get, the quicker time flies by.  I do remember being told that when I was a teenager.  Those people were so right.  It feels like yesterday that I was sitting in my quiet house while Johanna was off with friends celebrating the start of 2018.  But that was a year ago.  Today, I’m still sitting in my quiet house but that’s because Karyna is just waking up for the day.   A few years ago, I used to work on videos that would highlight my year.  I loved doing them but they took time.  And that’s time that I don’t have as much of these days.  It’s hard to go through a year of pictures and videos.  Do you know how many pictures I take a year?  My goodness!...

Friday Follow

How come when it's time to do the Friday Follow, I have nothing interesting to say??? Hmmmm...it's been a long week.  Days where things just didn't make sense.  Lots I need to process.  It's possible that all of my thinking will lead to a great post this weekend.  But for now, I just hope all of you new visitors find something interesting to read from other posts here.  I plan to spend this rainy weekend doing some thinking, relaxing, watching movies and checking out new blogs!  Sounds like a good way to spend the weekend, right?  :-)  Thanks for stopping by!

New Cards!!!

So between resting this weekend (cause my allergies kicked my butt...especially yesterday), I worked on making some cards.  It's been SO long since I've actually spent time doing something like this and I LOVE making cards!  So I wanted to share them with you.  I made 20 cards total.  2 each of 10 designs.  So now there's two sets of friendship cards.  I think I'm going to try to sell one set.  Then I think give the other set away.  I'm just not sure how.  Any ideas?  I'm thinking if you leave a comment about the cards you'll be entered to win.  If you buy one set of cards, you'll also be entered to win.  Hows that sound?
